How was your Christmas 2009 Celebration?

Was your Christmas fun? And ever-memorable? Is it distinguishable from the previous Christmases that you had? Or is it a cliche?

When I attended the anticipated mass for Advent 2009, I clearly remembered what the priest had said in his sermon, "Is life so difficult right now? I see a lot of people attending the mass than ever." And then everyone bursted into laughter. Though, thoroughly reflecting on it,I realized something-- when I go to church, most probably, I have something to ask or wish for. I always have a reason why I go to church. When I have to close a business deal or when I feel bad about something, I usually go to mass and pray. I also go to church when I want to seek meaning in an otherwise meaningless world or find hope in the midst of despair.

You see-- my Christmas this year is not so much about the usual festivities. But rather it is a celebration of realizations. I figured it out that this is my last year to be stupid. After all, this season is celebrated to say thank you to our Lord and to those people who touched and made a difference in our lives.

Don't get me wrong. I am not very religious as you may think. I have my pitfalls as well. But I am trying to live a celebrated life. This is just my second blog. In the next few blogs to come, you will also see that there is no perfect life.

So, you? What did you do this Christmas? What was it all about?
